Ara Chronicles is a children's graphic novel series in the making. The series offers a safe and adventurous realm for children to explore, discover, and express themselves freely.
Ara Chronicles takes you to the "Swapan Lokam" the mystical realm that's exists at the edge of human world, where lives our central character - Ara along with their companions - other magical beings.

Meet ARA
Ara is a benevolent being inspired from ancient Indian folklore. This enigmatic being transcends the boundaries of gender and form, shapeshifting to resonate with each child.

In the enchanting world of Ara Chronicles, Ara is the guardian of the dream world, appearing in dreams and visions to guide and protect children in their times of need.

Ara effortlessly navigates between realms, communicating in all languages, including the language of nature. This embodies the interconnectedness revered in ancient beliefs, promoting understanding and harmony.

With roots deeply embedded in diverse cultures, Ara Chronicles seeks to honor and celebrate the rich heritage of ancient Indian myths, infusing contemporary narratives with timeless wisdom and values.
Our Approach
Crafting Ara's depiction, involved drawing from folklore and myths of ancient Indian oral traditions and reimagining them through an intersectional and cross cultural feminist lens.
Ara draws from Indian elemental beings like Yakshi, Yali, Kuttichathan, Kali, Ghodbudi, Naguesh, Saptakanya, and more, embodying the belief that every child is unique and beautiful just as they are.

Inspired by mythical protectors, Ara embodies ancient Indian beliefs, imparting timeless wisdom on kindness, empathy, equality, and self-discovery, enriching the storytelling with a profound understanding of interconnectedness within nature revered in ancient beliefs.

Meet the Team
As trans and queer individuals, we grew up with little to no representation of our identities in stories. This project is our tribute to ancient Indian folklore, reimagined through an inclusive lens, to empower young readers of today to celebrate their unique identities and cultural heritage.
